The Vision

What Is the Food Atlas?

The African Indigenous Food Atlas is MIFAN's long-term flagship initiative — a comprehensive digital archive and interactive platform that will serve as the definitive reference for Africa's extraordinary food biodiversity.

For too long, Africa's indigenous food knowledge has existed only in the memories of elders and the practices of rural communities. The Atlas will change that, creating a permanent, searchable, and shareable record that researchers, educators, policymakers, and communities can build upon for generations.
